The annual Muslim festival Eid al-Fitr will not be held as scheduled in Taipei this May, in an effort to avoid large gatherings amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the city government said Thursday. The religious event, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is usually celebrated by tens of thousands of Muslims in Taiwan each year and was scheduled for May 24 in Taipei.
Tainan City Government and world-leading travel platform Klook officially kicked off bilateral collaborations on March 5 with a MOU signed by Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che and Klook's head of marketing in Taiwan Sam Lin. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-Je attended the 2019 Taipei Marathon in the early hours of 12/15 to root for the 28,000 runners both domestic and from abroad. According to Ko, this year’s Taipei Marathon sees the participation of athletes from 61 countries, making it the most fruitful year in the history of the event in terms of the number of participating countries.
