Taiwan hospital performs life-changing surgery on boy from Myanmar

Fifteen-year-old Loke Swe from Myanmar, who was born with the fingers on both hands fused into a fist, underwent successful surgery at Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital in Taipei, allowing him to realize his dream of being able to write normally one day, the hospital said Monday.

Taiwan ranked most popular holiday destination for Japanese

Taiwan has been ranked the most popular destination for Japanese travelers who wish to spend their New Year's holiday abroad for the fifth consecutive year, a survey of travel agents has found. Other destinations in the top 10 were Hawaii, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Guam, the U.S., Italy, Australia and Indonesia, according to the survey's results, which were released earlier this month.
