Total prize pool of up to NTD 1.2 million! “Taichung International Animation Festival” short films submission deadline is June 30

The clock is ticking! With the strong support of the Taichung City Government and the Information Bureau, the Taichung Film Development Foundation is hosting the short film competition of the 8th Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF), with a total prize pool of up to NTD 1.2 million. Since the opening of the application in April this year, it has obtained more than 1000 excellent pieces of work. The application will be closed on June 30.

New Taiwan children’s books promote Southeast Asian languages

Over 570,000 immigrants currently live in Taiwan, bringing their own languages, culture, and cuisine to their new country. Many of them come from Southeast Asia. The Education Ministry is promoting a new children’s book project to preserve these foreign languages in Taiwan, so that the younger generations are still connected to their heritage.

As the “International Mother Language Day” is on February 21, the Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency (NIA) launched the Podcast program “Talks on Cultures & Immigrants’ journeys”. The program was produced and broadcasted by the second generation of immigrants, inviting immigrant’s children to share their experiences while residing in Taiwan, as well as to encourage them to use their native languages more often.
