Four international medical forums were staged May 22 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the sidelines of the 71st World Health Assembly in Geneva, bringing together experts from home and abroad to discuss antibiotic resistance, dental care for seniors, health equity and universal coverage.

As the 71st World Health Assembly continues in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 21 to 26, the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) thanks Eswatini, the Marshall Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Solomon Islands for endorsing Taiwan’s participation in the WHA during the two-on-two debates held at the WHA General Committee and Plenary Session.

The Government of Burkina Faso announced the unilateral termination of diplomatic relations with Taiwan on May 24, 2018. In order to maintain our national sovereignty and dignity, the government of Taiwan has also terminated diplomatic relations with Burkina Faso, effective immediately. Taiwan will cease all aid programs and begin the process of recalling our diplomatic staff, medical and technical teams.

Minister without Portfolio and Chief Negotiator John C.C. Deng on Wednesday led a delegation to take part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) 24th Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in the Papua New Guinea capital of Port Moresby, according to the Executive Yuan Office of Trade Negotiations (OTN).
