On the morning of January 1, President Tsai Ing-wen delivered her 2024 New Year’s Address in the Reception Hall of the Presidential Office. In remarks, President Tsai mentioned that this is the last New Year’s Day of her eight years as president of the Republic of China.

On December 15 (US EST), the United States government announced that it had notified Congress of the sale to Taiwan of a US$300 million military package, which is expected to come formally into effect in one month. The package includes follow-on life cycle support to maintain Command, Control, Communications, and Computer (C4) capabilities.

On the morning of December 11, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by World Medical Association (WMA) President Dr. Lujain Alqodmani. In remarks, President Tsai thanked the WMA for its many years of speaking up for Taiwan on the international stage. President Tsai emphasized that we will continue to show how Taiwan can help by actively contributing to global health security.

On the morning of December 7, President Tsai Ing-wen presented the 2023 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award to Amihan Abueva, regional executive director of the Child Rights Coalition Asia (CRC Asia). In remarks, President Tsai recognized Ms. Abueva’s long-term contributions to advocacy for the rights of children in her battle against all forms of child violence.

On the afternoon of November 27, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the 2023 Taiwan Business Alliance Conference. In remarks, President Tsai stated that our economy has grown despite the pandemic and other global challenges, proving that Taiwan is a secure investment destination.

President Tsai Ing-wen expressed her gratitude to 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting special envoy Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Nov. 20 in Taipei City.

The 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), hosted by the United States, concluded at noon on November 17 (local time). Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) founder and Leader’s Representative Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀) participated in the full meeting and conveyed Taiwan’s ideas and positions, successfully completing his mission for the AELM.

On the evening of November 14, ahead of his departure for the United States to attend the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) from November 15 to 17 in San Francisco, APEC Leader’s Representative Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀) delivered remarks on his trip.

On the morning of November 13, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening of the 2023 International Forum on Legal Aid. In remarks, President Tsai stated that over the past seven years, Taiwan has striven to promote judicial reform in three respects, those being judicial reform for the people, reform for a professional and impartial judicial system, and reform for diverse participation in the judicial system.

On the morning of November 10, President Tsai Ing-wen attended a press conference before Taiwan’s delegation departs for the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), which will be held in San Francisco from November 15 to 17. In remarks, President Tsai thanked Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀), founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), for acting as our Leader’s Representative to the meeting for the sixth time to date.
