Number of second-generation of new immigrants, who are students, reaches 305,000 in Taiwan

According to The China Post, the Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) recently released a report on the number of second-generation new immigrant students in 2020, showing that there are now around 305,000, which makes up 7.3% of the entire student population.

New Taipei Campus launched the “Chinese Language Course” for new immigrants!

Chengzhou Elementary School, Wugu District, New Taipei City recently held a Chinese language course for new immigrants. The school prepared cooked glutinous rice balls with garland chrysanthemum to share with the foreign students and the Rotary International (RI) that supports this project. The new immigrants were amazed with the colorful dish and said, “This shows how friendly Taiwanese are”.

The second generation of Vietnamese, Cheng Ling-chiao, is the champion of 2021 judo competition and recognized by NIA!

According to The China Post, Cheng Ling-chiao (鄭伶巧), a student who is the second generation of Vietnamese, recently shared her experience of caring for her sick parents while still completing her schooling and revealed her ambition to become a lawyer in the future, inspiring many.

A lady from the Philippines, Mary (pseudonym), visited Taiwan for business purposes. Because of her strong desire to live in Taiwan, she has stayed here for 10 years without obtaining legal status and has been earning a living by doing part-time jobs. Being accompanied by a friend, Mary got vaccinated at the Taipei Main Station on December 11.
