A short film encouraging the United Nations to give Taiwan a voice at the upcoming General Assembly and other activities, mechanisms and meetings of the international body was released Aug. 28 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Embassies and overseas missions have extended cooperation with members of the free world, expanded Taiwan’s participation in global economy and trade organizations and promoted key policy measures thus delivering considerable dividends to the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Aug. 25.

Minister without Portfolio Lo Ping-cheng on Sunday led a delegation to attend the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Women and the Economy Forum in Seattle, Washington, with representatives from several government agencies and civic organizations including the Executive Yuan’s Department of Gender Equality, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foundation for Women’s Rights Promotion and Development. The delegation attended the forum’s High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on Women and the Economy.

The 2023 Hakka Expo kicked off Aug. 11 in northern Taiwan’s Taoyuan City, highlighting rich and diverse local culture while spotlighting the government focus to develop the country as an international hub for Hakka revitalization, according to the Executive Yuan.

The minister for foreign affairs and minister for defense of Australia hosted the secretary of state and secretary of defense of the United States at the Australia-United States Ministerial Consultations (AUSMIN) in Brisbane on July 29. After the meeting, the US Department of State and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a joint statement on the 33rd AUSMIN.

The Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition opened July 20 as part of government efforts to raise the country’s profile on the global stage, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Friendship Medal of Diplomacy was awarded July 20 to Jenny Bloomfield, head of Australian Office in Taiwan, in recognition of her stellar work in advancing Taiwan-Australia relations.
