The 92nd session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) was held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from November 4 to 7. In an unprecedented show of global support, executive and legislative branches of government, interparliamentary organizations, and prominent individuals of over 70 countries endorsed Taiwan’s bid to participate in INTERPOL.
Premier Cho Jung-tai said that Taiwan is committed to collaboration with other nations to effectively combat crime and uphold global security and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) sincerely appreciates that the administrations and friendly members of parliament of more than 30 countries, as well as the European Union, have publicly expressed concern over the cross-strait situation or stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability after China once again recently launched military drills to intimidate Taiwan.

The 44th and 45th summits of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) took place in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, from October 6 to 11. During the meetings, the United States, Japan, Australia, India, the Republic of Korea, and other like-minded countries expressed concern about the situation in the South China Sea and underlined the importance of peace and stability in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) welcomes and affirms these statements.

Typhoon Yagi swept across Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar in September, triggering floods and landslides, causing many casualties, and damaging property. Despite suffering significant adverse effects themselves, Taiwan’s businesspeople in affected areas displayed the warmth of the Taiwanese people, making generous donations of relief supplies and assisting with reconstruction efforts.
