NEXT BIG to Convey Taiwan’s Entrepreneurial Energy to the World

To strengthen Taiwan startups’ international reputation, on top of the national startup brand Startup Island TAIWAN, the National Development Council (NDC) launched the NEXT BIG project. Together, the startup communities and industry key opinion leaders jointly nominated nine startups to become NEXT BIG representatives. With NEXT BIG leading the way, Taiwan hopes to see more young people be inspired and Taiwan’s thriving entrepreneurial energy be conveyed to the world.

Taiwan and the Philippines convene the 10th Meeting of the MECO-TECO Technical Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation via video conference and hold a B2B Forum of Agricultural Mechanization

The 10th Meeting of the MECO-TECO Technical Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation was held via video conference on July 29, 2021. Deputy Minister Chin-cheng Huang of Council of Agriculture of Taiwan and an Undersecretary of Department of Agriculture of the Philippines hosted the meeting jointly. Ambassador Pei-yung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines and Vice Chairman Lauengco of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei also participated in the meeting.

This month, Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) has initiated “Optimized Service, Maximized Exposure, and Continued Growth,” three key digital transformation strategies, to continue empowering global startups in the post-pandemic era. Through digitization of services, the initiative aims to empower startups to seize international business opportunities via OMO (Online-Merge-Offline) international exhibitions, zero-boundary resource connections, and TTA one-stop digital service official website.

Research institute raises Taiwan economic growth forecast for 2021

The Taiwan Research Institute (TRI) on Wednesday raised its forecast for Taiwan’s economic growth in 2021 to 5.12 percent, citing strong exports amid the global economic recovery from COVID-19.

Taiwan moved up three spots to 8th in the latest World Competitiveness Yearbook published June 17 by Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development, achieving its best ranking in the annual report since 2013.
