Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the opening of the 2018 Taipei Lantern Festival. He appeared on stage carrying a conductor’s baton and leading a team of percussionists during the opening ceremony, joined by a group of dancing Pikachus.

Not only the popular mascots “Leopard Cat Family & Omi Horse” are busy promoting the international event, the first mascot themed convenient store, 7-11 at city hall, also has mascot paintings on their glass walls and over tabletop in the sitting area. Yuejin Lantern Festival, the romantic grand event everyone has been waiting for, will be held between Feb. 10 and Mar. 4 this year at Yuejin Harbor in Yanshui District, Tainan City, with the theme “Rendezvous”.
