Minister of Health and Welfare Hsueh Jui-yuan took part in the 2023 Concordia Annual Summit in New York to spotlight the government’s commitment to fulfilling the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals by achieving health for all, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sept. 21.

Premier Chen Chien-jen on Monday attended the 35th Annual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. United States Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait at the 18th East Asia Summit held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 7. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also conveyed concern over regional security issues, including in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait at the ASEAN-Japan Summit held in Indonesia on September 6. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) warmly welcomes and appreciates Prime Minister Kishida publicly reiterating staunch support for cross-strait peace and stability after he expressed the same stance at the US-Japan-ROK summit at Camp David on August 18.

Former Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was elected the ninth president of the Republic of Singapore in the country’s presidential election held on September 1 and will take his oath of office on September 14. The Taipei Representative Office in Singapore has forwarded a congratulatory letter from President Tsai Ing-wen to President-elect Shanmugaratnam, conveying felicitations from Taiwan and expressing her high regard and hope for the further deepening of bilateral relations between Taiw

A workshop on promoting sustainable aviation was staged by Taiwan, the U.S., Japan and Australia under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework Aug. 29-30 in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
