Taiwan and the U.S. announced cooperation on the Women’s Livelihood Bond Series Dec. 14, underscoring the like-minded partners’ commitment to gender equality through promoting economic empowerment as a path to prosperity for women in the Indo-Pacific.

FSC Visits Bilingual Bank Branches to Promote the Bilingual Nation 2030 Policy

In support of the Bilingual Nation 2030 policy, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) encourages banks to set up bilingual branches, enhance the English proficiency of staff members, and create a friendly bilingual financial services environment. Last December, the FSC arranged visits to DBS Bank Taiwan’s Tianmu Branch and Mega International Commercial Bank’s Lanya Branch.

TaiwanICDF Participates in Global Wave of Public Benefit Creation to Transform Women’s Lives in Southeast and South Asia

The Women’s Livelihood Loan Project in Southeast and South Asia, jointly promoted by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) and Singapore-based Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), aims to help women in these regions build economic resilience. The two parties signed the loan agreement on November 25, 2020.

The Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held the "2020 Smart Business Innovation Forum and Exhibition" at NTUH International Convention Center on Nov. 26. There were keynote speeches, best practice sharing and various booths demonstrating innovative applications of smart technology in retail and logistics, which attracted over 418 participants from industries, academia and research institutes.

“Renewable Energy Week 2020” showcases the achievements in renewable energy and R&D innovations

The Bureau of Energy (BOE) held the “Renewable Energy Week 2020” exhibition at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from October 14 to 16. President Tsai Ing-Wen said in her opening speech that the government is actively developing renewable energy to reach the 20% target by 2025. She also emphasized that the renewable energy trading system and Taiwan Renewable Energy Certificate (T-REC) have been in placed to accelerate solar photovoltaic deployment to meet the 20 GW target by 2025.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) on November 28 co-hosted the Third Annual Forum of Asia Pacific Industrial Collaboration Platform, inviting four Taiwanese companies that have already started business operations in New Southbound Policy (NSP) target countries to share their experiences and insights with nearly 400 participants.

ACGA released its preview of “CG Watch 2020”Taiwan cumulative effort has been recognized by ACGA

The Asian Corporate Governance Association (“ACGA”) released its preview of “CG Watch 2020” on November 25, a biennial investigation and rating survey on corporate governance performances in the Asian markets. Among 12 regional markets, Taiwan ranks 4th in ACGA‘s survey result this year. Improving in market ranking, Taiwan scored 62.2 points this year, the best since 2003, edging even closer to Hong Kong (63.5 points) and Singapore (63.2 points).
