Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan cochaired the 7th Malaysia-Australia Annual Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Melbourne, Australia, on September 12. In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and declared they had a stake in conflict prevention. The two sides stressed the need for open communication, reassurance, and transparency.
