Hsinchu County Cultural Festival has entered its fourth year and is going be held from November 4th to 26th in 2017. This year’s festival has two themes, including “Finding the Taste of Hsinchu County” and “Hsinchu County in Suitcases.”

To echo Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ visa-waiver program for tourists from the Philippines starting November 1, Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) organized a culinary session to greet crew of the Filipino TV program “to a T” who are visiting Taipei at the invitation of the agency.

The 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo will begin synchronically in Fengyuan, Houli, and Waipu. Acting Mayor Li Men-yen, Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau Director-General Wang Shi-si, Master Chef A-Yong and other guests announced a series of events and activities for the seventh Tainan Food Festival, which will be held between October 21 and December 2 this year, at the press conference today (Oct. 13).

Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) announced that the fourth major update for the MRT add-value machine system is now underway. By the end of October, machines across all MRT stations will provide services in four more languages -- Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian, in addition to the existing language options of Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.

Social Bureau of Taichung City Government held the “Volunteers Recruitment Platform Creativity Events” on October 8th to encourage people to be a part of the volunteer team for the Floral Expo. Some 105 teams of volunteers have signed up that made this recruitment fruitful. More and more people are appealed to join the crew. There were more than 10,000 people registered as Floral Expo Volunteers in “teams” and registration of volunteers by “individuals” was also opened.

Themed “Flowers in Hakka Community”, arts parade is going to be performed in Dongshih. Performers of various arts, including musicians, dancers, acrobatics local performers and school clubs in this mountain town, totaled 12, are invited to join this parade. Collaborating with local Hakka community culture and special regional industry, they endeavor to promote cross-over exchange to allow people to know more the cultural and arts performers and special local industry in Taichung.

The “2017 New Economic Power of Smart City Forum” was held in Taichung. Mayor Lin Chia-Lung of Taichung attended the occasion held on October 5, and shared his experience in the governance of a smart city with the participants in the forum.
