Taiwan’s rich cultural diversity showcased in London through crafts

As part of the 2023 Craft Week, the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute (NTCRI) will be showcasing over 30 sets of weaving works that reflect Taiwan’s rich cultural diversity under the theme of “Weaving Taiwan: The Multicultural Textiles and Baskets” at Cromwell Place in London from May 10 to 14.

MOEA Announced Global First Dual-Function Anti-Cancer ADC Drug, to Build an ADC Drug Development and Manufacturing Base through DCB’s Collaborating with Industry

The Ministry of Economic Affairs(MOEA) announced that the Development Center for Biotechnology(DCB) has developed a new generation of ADC (antibody-drug conjugate) anti-cancer drugs that can carry two small molecule drugs. The key technology of ADC, “tri-mannosyl conjugation technology,” has been licensed to HoneyBear Biosciences, which is invested by a domestic leading API company SCI Pharmtech, for a license fee of up to 690 million NT dollars.

International Slow Food Representatives Highly Appreciate Taitung – Slow Food to Go Global

Representatives from Italy, the Philippines, India, and Malaysia, were invited to Taitung last week to attend the Taitung Slow Food International Forum, Taitung Slow Food Festival, and Food Culture Exchange Workshop. The five-day intensive program not only brought slow food promotion experiences from around the world but also visited places such as the Kanding tribal village in Haiduan Township, the Dalumak tribal village in Beinan Township, and the National Museum of Prehistory.

Taiwanese films in the spotlight at Singapore Chinese Film Festival

The Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF) has unveiled the lineup for its 11th edition, presenting a total of 55 feature films, documentaries, and short films from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, America, and more from April 28 to May 7. In addition, 22 Taiwanese films will be screened, with “Workers The Movie (做工的人)” to premiere internationally as the closing film of the festival.

Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir invited to perform in Türkiye

The Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir (TPCC) will perform three concerts and attend a pre-concert talk from April 25 to 29 at the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM) in Türkiye, with the aim of showcasing Taiwanese culture through choral singing. This marks the third time the choir has been invited by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM). Previously, they have performed at WSCM in Sydney, Australia in 1996 and in Minneapolis, USA in 2002.

Dance groups from home and abroad celebrate Want to Dance Festival in Taipei

42 dance groups from 15 countries will present a total of 74 shows at the three-day Want to Dance Festival (艋舺國際舞蹈節) from April 21 to 23, bringing vitality to Wanhua District, a historical region of Taipei City. The performances will be simultaneously presented at Wan Theater and 16 non-traditional theaters.

International curators join 2023 Taiwan Week, promoting cross-cultural collaboration

Taiwan Week 2023, a biannual conference held by the National Theater & Concert Hall (NTCH), began on April 9, featuring a week of performances by Taiwanese performing arts troupes while playing host to 44 international curators representing prominent performing arts theaters of 14 countries/regions. The event, which runs until April 15, is the largest international gathering of its kind in Taiwan.

Taiwanese audiovisual works to be shown at Queer East Festival in London

To highlight the openness, diversity and queer culture of Taiwanese society, the 2023 Queer East Festival, in collaboration with the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, will showcase a selection of Taiwanese audiovisual works at eight venues in London from April 18 to 30. The festival will then continue to tour 10 cities throughout the UK during the autumn season, and popular films from previous years will be screened online as part of the festival.
