Dr. Juli Minoves, the president of Liberal International visited Mayor Lin. They discussed the matters about the establishment of an INGO center in Taichung

Dr. Juli Minoves, the classmate of Lin Chia-lung, the Mayor of Taichung City in the Ph.D. program at Yale, is currently the president of Liberal International. He arrived in Taichung earlier to visit Mayor Lin. In addition to the reunion with an old friend, they also discussed widely on the plan of constructing Taichung into an international non-governmental organization (INGO) center.

Promoting Flora Expo Tourism, Taichung City Tourism Bureau head north and south to promote tourism

Taichung City will hold the 2018 International Taichung Flora Exposition, The City Tourism Bureau and the National Tourism Quality Assurance Association held two promotional events in Taipei and Kaohsiung, to introduce central Taiwan tourism products and to seek cooperation. Furthermore, the tourism bureau also hopes to sign a MOU between central Taiwan and southern Taiwan tourism alliance, to promote a “enter south, exit central and also enter central, exit south” model.

 “Taipei in Motion,” a short film promoting the Aug. 19-30 Summer Universiade, the largest international sporting event ever staged in Taiwan, was named a winner of the Red Dot Award for communication design Aug. 10.

Mayor Wen-Je Ko stated that the Universiade gathered all broadcasting resources from all major broadcasting companies in Taiwan, including 14 Outside Broadcasting Trucks, 6 Sub-Control Systems and more than 5,000 production personnel to complete the largest task in the broadcasting history of Taiwan.

After six years of planning and preparation, the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade Athletes’ Village located at Linkou, officially opened one week before the opening ceremony this afternoon at 3pm. Taipei City Mayor Wen-Je Ko, FISU President Oleg Matytsin, Executive Yuan Minister without Portfolio Jin-sen Chang, Taipei Universiade CEO Lee-Chong Su and Mayor of the Athletes’ Village were all present at the opening ceremony.

Taipei 2017 Universiade is not just the city’s Universiade, it is the Universiade of Taiwan! This grand international sporting occasion will begin in just two weeks. Almost 12,000 athletes and team staff from 131 countries will arrive in succession at the gateway of Taiwan-Taoyuan International Airport.

The Universiade torch relay continues on its LOVE-shaped route across Taiwan The 4th stop of the E part of the relay route was held at Sandiaojiao Lighthouse in New Taipei City on August 7

The Taipei Universiade torch relay is now following a LOVE shaped route as it links 22 counties and cities across Taiwan. The L, O and V parts of the torch relay were successfully completed. The E part of the torch relay began in Hsinchu County on August 4, moving on to Hsinchu City, Taoyuan City and then, the fourth stop in New Taipei City, on August 7.

Since the launch of the direct flight routes from Taichung City to Bangkok City on the first of July, Taichung City Tourism Bureau visited Bangkok with a group of tourism related businesses, held a promotional event for the 2018 International Taichung Flroa Expo, and signed separate MOU’s with the ATTA and TTAA, to further bring together tourist industries from both sides, provide tourists with local information.

City Offers Incentives to Lure Bollywood Filmmakers

A group of representatives from Bollywood and cinema industry in South India are visiting Taipei for exchanges in tourism and film industry. The trip is a result of efforts by Mayor Ko Wen-je, who visited India in April seeking to boost bilateral ties in film and TV industry by offering incentives in the form of subsidies.
