The torch relay is now following a LOVE shaped route as it links 22 counties and cities across Taiwan. The L and O parts of the torch relay were successfully completed. After being held on successive days in Taitung County, Pingtung County, Kaohsiung City, Chiayi County, Yunlin County, Tainan City and Chiayi City, the V part of the torch relay arrived at Nantou County for its eighth stop.

The torch relay is now following a LOVE shaped route as it links 22 counties and cities across Taiwan. After the completion of the L and O parts of the route, the V shaped part of the relay began. Starting in Taitung County, it moved to Pingtung County, Kaohsiung City and then Chiayi County. Now the fifth and the latest stop being Yunlin County.

On July 28th, the fourth leg of the V part of the relay, Chiayi County, was held. Although the relay route from the county government building to the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum was only three kilometers long, but it was not an easy task. The museum only came into existence after a long and arduous process lasting 11 years, and then finally, officially opened in 2015. It is a national level museum, which is being positioned as an “Asian art and culture museum.”

Taipei Universiade Organizing Committee specifically invited Taipei City Deputy Mayor Chia-Chi Teng to lead Zhi-Jian Zhao, who is the torchbearer representing Taipei City and have won a silver medal in the long jump at the 2007 Bangkok Universiade, as he passed the torch to Kaohsiung City’s torchbearer.
