On July 28th, the fourth leg of the V part of the relay, Chiayi County, was held. Although the relay route from the county government building to the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum was only three kilometers long, but it was not an easy task. The museum only came into existence after a long and arduous process lasting 11 years, and then finally, officially opened in 2015. It is a national level museum, which is being positioned as an “Asian art and culture museum.”

The 21st World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) will be held in Taipei from September 10 through 13. The press conference announcing the major IT occasion took place on July 25 with Deputy Mayor Charles Lin presiding over the event.
Taipei 2017 Universiade will begin on August 19. The torch relay will now follow a LOVE shaped route as it links 22 counties and cities across Taiwan, promoting this major sporting event and spreading the Universiade spirit. The V part of the relay connects all these cities and counties as a heart shape, representing the Love & Peace spirit of the sacred flame. As the torch relay was held in Taitung on July 25, amidst the major event on the local event calendar, Taiwan International Balloon Festival. The county government arranged for the torch to be carried in a hot air balloon, which is a distinctive and innovation approach.
After more than six months of planning, Taichung City Government arranged for the torch handover to take place at the city’s new landmark, the National Taichung Theater which opened in September 2016 and designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito.
