Taiwan, US, Japan lawmakers participate in first trilateral strategy forum

The inaugural edition of a trilateral strategy forum aimed at deepening cooperation and strengthening ties between Taiwan, Japan and the U.S. was held July 29, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Halifax International Security Forum to hold HFX TAIPEI event in January 2022

The Halifax International Security Forum (HFX) has announced that it will hold the HFX TAIPEI forum from January 21 to 23, 2022, in Taipei in association with Taiwan’s Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) welcomes HFX’s announcement.

CECC to lower epidemic alert level to Level 2 from July 27 to August 9; CECC urges public to continue following epidemic prevention and control measures to protect health of people in Taiwan

On July 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it will lower the epidemic alert to Level 2, effective from July 27 to August 9, and that ministries and councils/commissions under the Executive Yuan may issue respective guidelines in accordance with the CECC's general principles; in line with the CECC's general guidelines, local governments may also make appropriate adjustments to epidemic prevention rules based on the COVID-19 situation in the respective city or county.

The fourth European Union (EU) – Taiwan Human Rights Consultation took place on 15th July 2021 by video conference. The consultation, formally opened by EEAS Deputy Managing Director for Human Rights, Global & Multilateral Issues Kristin De Peyron, was co-chaired on the EU side by Luisa Ragher, Head of Human Rights Division, and Jonathan Hatwell, Head of Division for China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Mongolia, and on Taiwan side by Ping-Cheng Lo, Minister without Portfolio.

200 oxygen concentrators donated by Taiwan to Indonesia

MOFA thanks Japan for 3rd donation of COVID-19 vaccines

The latest donation of 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Taiwan by Japan is sincerely appreciated by the government and people, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs July 13.

Starting July 13, employer transfers for all foreign workers to be restored; new employers must arrange PCR testing for newly-employed foreign workers within three days prior to their first day of work

On July 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that starting July 13, all foreign workers will be again allowed to change employers or jobs. However, the dispatch of foreign workers to another work site and the assignment of additional work responsibilities to foreign workers will remain suspended given the relatively high mobility of foreign workers. Such policy will be reviewed based on the status of the pandemic.

Loan amounts for local businesses to be increased to spur domestic investment

Premier Su Tseng-chang said on Thursday that the cap for loans available to enterprises will be boosted by NT$150 billion (US$5.4 billion) as a means of providing strong support for local companies. His announcement came following a briefing by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on two investment incentive programs aimed at domestically based Taiwanese businesses.
