President Tsai attends 40th Congress of International Federation for Human Rights

President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening ceremony of the 40th Congress of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) on the morning of October 21. She stated that throughout her time in office, her administration has worked to ensure stronger human rights protections across society, including removing job restrictions and discrimination on women in the workplace, initiating judicial reform, and strengthening our social safety net to better protect underprivileged groups.

The president entrusted Dr. Chang and the delegation with the mission to clearly communicate to all APEC members Taiwan's determination and achievements in promoting a "digital society" and a "smart nation."

On the morning of October 9, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by Ms. Sandra Oudkirk, US Department of State Senior Official for APEC and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. She reaffirmed that Taiwan is willing to strengthen cooperation with the US and other like-minded countries. Under the APEC framework, she said, we can work together to respond to the challenges of the digital economy, and enhance the economic empowerment of women.

On the morning of October 8, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening ceremony of the Yushan Forum, where she stated that Taiwan is willing and able to participate more actively in regional partnerships, and China’s efforts to isolate Taiwan have done nothing but hinder regional prosperity and stability.

On the morning of October 8, President Tsai Ing-wen met with participants attending the Yushan Forum. She stated that the theme of this year's Yushan Forum is Deepening Progressive Partnerships in Asia, and she hopes the forum will cover everything from cooperation in technology, economics, and sustainable development, to further exploring transnational cooperation among civil societies, Asian think tank cooperation, and the cultivation of leaders for the next generation.
