The opening ceremony of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade—the largest global sporting event ever staged in Taiwan—is set to feature some of Taiwan’s most renowned artists in the realms of music and dance, according to the Taipei Universiade Organizing Committee.

Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang attended the rousing music performance by the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus and Singapore’s Orchestra of the Music Makers at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 12 August 2017. Over 1600 persons attended the concert, including 50 friends from the arts, business and academia, who were there at the invitation of Representative Liang.
Mayor Wen-Je Ko stated that the Universiade gathered all broadcasting resources from all major broadcasting companies in Taiwan, including 14 Outside Broadcasting Trucks, 6 Sub-Control Systems and more than 5,000 production personnel to complete the largest task in the broadcasting history of Taiwan.

After six years of planning and preparation, the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade Athletes’ Village located at Linkou, officially opened one week before the opening ceremony this afternoon at 3pm.
