Taiwan and US conclude fruitful round of trade and investment talks

The 11th round of Trade and Investment Frame Agreement (TIFA) meetings between Taiwan and the United States began Wednesday at 7 a.m. (Taiwan time) via videoconferencing before concluding successfully in the afternoon. The talks were led by the Deputy Trade Representative Yang Jen-ni of the Executive Yuan's Office of Trade Negotiations (OTN) and Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Terrence McCartin of the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

In response to spread of Delta variant globally, people arriving in Taiwan must take quarantine vehicles to their quarantine location starting June 27

On June 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that in response to the spread of the Delta variant globally and its high transmissibility, starting today, travelers arriving in Taiwan from the seven key high-risk countries (Brazil, India, the UK, Peru, Israel, Indonesia, and Bangladesh), are required to take quarantine vehicles arranged by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to go to group quarantine facilities from airports or ports.

On June 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that starting 00:00 on June 27 (time of arrival in Taiwan), quarantine measures for arriving travelers will be strengthened as the Delta variant continues to spread globally and is highly transmissible. Details about strengthened quarantine measures are listed below.

Level 3 COVID alert to be extended to keep Taiwan safe

Premier Su Tseng-chang on Thursday received a Ministry of Health and Welfare briefing on the status and response of the COVID-19 situation. Since Taiwan entered a Level 3 COVID alert more than a month ago on May 19, the situation has somewhat stabilized and come under better control. The nation cannot let its guard down, however, and the Level 3 alert will be extended until July 12. The premier hopes everyone will work together to keep Taiwan safe.

On June 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that after assessing the COVID-19 situation in Taiwan, it has decided to extend its nationwide Level 3 epidemic alert for another two weeks (until July 12) in order to protect the health of people in Taiwan.

In response to spread of COVID-19 Delta variant, PCR testing is required for people completing home quarantine and home isolation periods to protect health of community

On June 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center announced that to prevent the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, starting June 22, close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases and travelers entering Taiwan from abroad, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, will be required to undergo PCR testing one day prior to the end of home isolation or home quarantine period.
