The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly is scheduled to convene at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 14, with the General Debate to be held from September 21 to 27. The theme for this year’s UN General Assembly and General Debate will be “Building resilience through hope—to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people, and revitalize the United Nations.”

On September 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that considering that the pandemic in Taiwan has continued to subside with sporadic cases of domestic cases with unknown sources of infection, it will maintain the Level 2 epidemic alert, effective from September 7 to September 20, and will continue to implement or adjust related control measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 7th Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition is accepting entries from August 31 to October 16. This year, as well as the existing creative/open category, which encourages documentary-style entries, a new brand story category invites participants to think outside the box in highlighting diverse Taiwanese stories, allowing the world an insight into Taiwan’s DNA.

On August 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that as the pandemic has continued to subside in Taiwan and the 2021 school semester is about to start, after evaluation, it will allow again overseas students pursuing degrees and the recipients of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship in the new semester to apply to enter Taiwan.
