The EU-Taiwan LGBTI Human Rights Conference kicked off Oct. 24 in Taipei City, reflecting the commitment of both sides to promoting marriage equality and protecting equal rights for all.

On the morning of October 25, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Marshall Islands President Hilda C. Heine and witnessed the signing of an economic cooperation agreement between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Washington-based International Republican Institute (IRI) on the morning of October 17, President Tsai Ing-wen stated that disinformation creates misunderstandings between the public and the government, undermines social harmony, and clearly damages democracy.

While meeting with American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Chairman James Moriarty on the morning of October 16, President Tsai Ing-wen stated that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA), and that Taiwan-US relations are at their best in decades. Taiwan will continue working closely with the United States and other like-minded countries in the region to contribute to peace, stability, and wellbeing in the Indo-Pacific region, she said.

While meeting with Danish Parliament Deputy Speaker Pia Kjærsgaard on the morning of October 17, President Tsai Ing-wen mentioned that we officially completed the construction of Taiwan's first offshore windfarm. The president stated that our goal is to have green energy account for 20% of our total energy mix by 2025. She also expressed hope that as Taiwan heads down the path of energy transition, we look forward to achieving even more via close cooperation with Denmark.

President Tsai Ing-wen held a press conference on the morning of October 14 to announce that she will once again invite Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀), founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd (TSMC), to act as her envoy to attend the 2019 APEC Leaders' Week in Chile. The president entrusted Dr. Chang and the delegation with the mission to clearly communicate to all APEC members Taiwan's determination and achievements in promoting a "digital society" and a "smart nation."
