President Tsai Ing-wen met with Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Youth Division Director Hajime Sasaki on the morning of August 20. At the meeting, President Tsai emphasized that Taiwan and Japan have long adhered to the values of democracy and freedom.

President Tsai Ing-wen met with former Minister for Defense of Australia Christopher Pyne on the morning of August 19, and expressed our gratitude for the Australian government's support of our international participation. She also stated that Taiwan can further deepen our partnership with Australia, working together to make a real difference in the Indo-Pacific.

President Tsai Ing-wen met with US-Taiwan Business Council (USTBC) Chairman Michael Splinter on the morning of August 15. She expressed hope that the USTBC can help Taiwan convey how truly committed we are to starting bilateral trade negotiations with the United States as soon as possible, and continue to strengthen our trade partnership.

President Tsai said that no matter which think tank they are affiliated with, or which specific issues they follow, those issues all include Indo-Pacific strategy, China's sharp power, and the situations in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

President Tsai Ing-wen attended the 49th General Assembly of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians' Union (APPU) this morning. Through the maritime links and democratic values shared in common, she said, she hopes that member states can work in concert to achieve the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, and begin a new era of sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region.

The 49th General Assembly and 83rd Council Meeting of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians’ Union kicked off Aug. 5 in Taipei City, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting regional peace and prosperity.

President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon on the morning of July 30. She thanked the delegates for their staunch support for Taiwan-US relations, and expressed hope that together they could foster more opportunities for cooperation and create a sustainable Taiwan-US partnership.

She stated that we will certainly continue to share Taiwan's open government achievements and efforts with the international community, and continue to show the world in concrete ways that “Taiwan Can Help.”

President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening ceremony for the 2019 BIO Asia-Taiwan Conference and Exhibition on the morning of July 25. She stated that Taiwan is internationally renowned for its prowess and innovative capabilities in healthcare.
