CECC raises epidemic warning to Level 2 and implements related restrictions and measures, effective from May 11 to June 8, in response to increased risk of community transmission

On May 11, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that in response to the increased risk of community transmission caused by local cases of unknown sources of infection in Taiwan, it would raise epidemic warning to Level 2: Local Cases of Unknown Sources, effective from today to June 8, a total of four weeks, and would impose restrictions on personal activities, going out, gatherings, business venues, public transportation and other related measures.

COVID-19 vaccine available to members of armed forces and people aged 65 and above to build herd immunity starting May 10

On May 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center announced that that beginning May 10, the government-funded COVID-19 vaccine would be available to individuals in the seventh priority group, i.e., members of the armed forces and civilian personnel in military agencies and national security units, and individuals in the eighth priority groups, i.e., people aged 65 and above.

CECC removes Laos from its list of medium-risk countries in response to severe local infections in the country; CECC moves Bhutan to the list of medium-risk category as local cases in Bhutan continue to rise

On May 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that local infections remained severe in Laos and cases rose rapidly in recent weeks in the country. Thus, the CECC will remove Laos from its list of medium-risk countries/region, effective immediately. The CECC also reported that local cases in Bhutan continued to increase. Therefore, the CECC will move Bhutan to its list of medium-risk countries/regions from low-risk countries/regions, effective immediately.
