Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau launched an incentive April 28 offering transit or transfer passengers at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport a free half-day tour in the country as part of a government program to attract more visitors from abroad.

The National Central Library becomes 90 years old this year. On April 22, the eve before World Reading Day, the director (曾淑賢) of the National Central Library, accompanied the heads of the seven National Libraries to visit the Kaohsiung Public Library’s main branch and engage in discussion. The mayor of Kaohsiung (陳其邁) was present as well.

Mayor Chiang Wan-an attended the 2023 Eid al-Fitr in Taipei at Daan Forest Park in the afternoon of April 23. This year, he joined Muslim friends for an outdoor picnic at the park’s grass field area. He pledged to devote even more effort to strengthen Taipei’s inclusiveness and sustainability.

The “Multicultural Regional Revitalization Camp for Children of New Immigrants” (新二代多元文化在地創生培育營) held by National Immigration Agency which is envisaged that the second-generation immigrants would be able to mix Taiwan’ local traits with innovation and diversity to generate new local qualities. An estimated 50 participants will be recruited to the five-day course, which will include a visit at the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology and other locations.

The “2023 Eid-al-Fitr in Taipei” celebration, with the theme of grass picnics and food markets, was organized in Daan Forest Park by the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government. On April 23, the “Muslim Little Travel Exhibition” will be organized for the first time, together with performances and cultural experiences, and everyone was welcomed to Daan Forest Park to celebrate the holiday.

As the global epidemic slows down and international travel is becoming more frequent, Tainan City Government is taking action to enter the global Muslim tourism market. The objective is to build a Muslim-friendly travel destination and increase the visibility of Tainan in the Muslim tourism market.

Taipei Fashion Week (TFW) AW23 officially kicked off with a grand opening ceremony on March 23 at Nankunshen Daitian Temple (南鯤鯓代天府山門) in Tainan, highlighting a series of fashion designs that incorporate elements from traditional performances such as Ba Jia Jiang (八家將), Taiwanese Opera, and Shadow Puppetry, as well as craftsmanship like lacquer art, paper sculptures, and knotting.

Recently, the Taoyuan City Government announced three new policies for immigrants, which include the International Service Counter, the New Immigrant Counsellor System, and the New Immigrant Magazine. The mayor of Taoyuan City, Simon Chang, said he hoped Taoyuan would be the home to immigrants in an International Women's Day event.

On March 15, the “2023 Multicultural Festival in New Taipei City” (新北市多元文化節) officially began. The theme for this year is “Re-Earthing,” which begins with “eating,” and uses food to highlight the multiculturalism and varied cuisines of New Taipei City.
