MOFA releases Q1 trade promotion report card

Efforts by Taiwan’s representative offices boosted foreign trade and investment in the first quarter of 2021 while strengthening the country’s relationship with its allies and like-minded partners, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs May 3.

CECC removes Laos from its list of medium-risk countries in response to severe local infections in the country; CECC moves Bhutan to the list of medium-risk category as local cases in Bhutan continue to rise

On May 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that local infections remained severe in Laos and cases rose rapidly in recent weeks in the country. Thus, the CECC will remove Laos from its list of medium-risk countries/region, effective immediately. The CECC also reported that local cases in Bhutan continued to increase. Therefore, the CECC will move Bhutan to its list of medium-risk countries/regions from low-risk countries/regions, effective immediately.

On May 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that hospitals and long-term care facilities in Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan City would impose visitation restrictions from May 4 to May 17. Related details are listed below.

Starting May 4, Taiwan to impose entry ban on travelers with history of travel to India, except for R.O.C. nationals and non-R.O.C. nationals with ARC; returning R.O.C. nationals and non-R.O.C. nationals with ARC must be quarantined at group quarantine facilities and undergo testing

On May 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that beginning 00:00 am on May 4 (arrival time), R.O.C. nationals and non-R.O.C. nationals with an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) who have traveled to India in the past 14 days (those who have transited in India included) would be required to stay at group quarantine facilities and undergo COVID-19 testing after arrival in Taiwan.

On May 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that in principle, flight crew members of foreign airline companies would be collectively quarantined at only one quarantine hotel which would be determined jointly by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) and the Taoyuan City Government.
