President Tsai Ing-wen attended the 49th General Assembly of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians' Union (APPU) this morning. Through the maritime links and democratic values shared in common, she said, she hopes that member states can work in concert to achieve the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, and begin a new era of sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region.

The 49th General Assembly and 83rd Council Meeting of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians’ Union kicked off Aug. 5 in Taipei City, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting regional peace and prosperity.

President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon on the morning of July 30. She thanked the delegates for their staunch support for Taiwan-US relations, and expressed hope that together they could foster more opportunities for cooperation and create a sustainable Taiwan-US partnership.

President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Presidential Hackathon award ceremony on the afternoon of July 27. She stated that we will certainly continue to share Taiwan's open government achievements and efforts with the international community, and continue to show the world in concrete ways that “Taiwan Can Help.”

President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening ceremony for the 2019 BIO Asia-Taiwan Conference and Exhibition on the morning of July 25. She stated that Taiwan is internationally renowned for its prowess and innovative capabilities in healthcare.

On the morning of July 19 local time (evening of July 19 Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen concluded her visit to St. Lucia and made a transit stop in Denver on her way back to Taiwan following her Journey of Freedom, Democracy, and Sustainability.
