APEC Workshop Unites Experts to Celebrate Women’s Role in Marine Culture- Inaugural Event Highlights Sea Women Tradition and Economic Empowerment in Magang Fishing Village

Hosted by the Ocean Affairs Council, the APEC Workshop on Fostering Women’s Economic Empowerment for a Resilient Marine Industry kicked off today (May 6) at the Fulong Visitor Center in New Taipei City. Over two days, government officials, experts, scholars, and representatives from non-profit organizations from nine APEC member economies, including Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, and Taiwan, gathered for discussions.

The workshop, organized by the Ocean Affairs Council, continued on May 7th at the Chaojin Intelligent Ocean (iOCEAN) within the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST) in Keelung City.

SMESA Attended APEC SMEWG in Indonesia, Sharing Best Practice Cases of PPP Together with Taiwanese Enterprise

Deputy Director-General Wu Chia-ying of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA), Ministry of Economic Affairs led a delegation to attend the 57th APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia, from April 24th to 25th. Gogolook Co., Ltd. joined the meeting along with the delegation, and shared how the public-private partnership (PPP) mechanism has increased startup opportunities in the international market.

With APEC approval, the Sports Administration (SA) annually hosts the 2024 ASPN Round Table Meeting through the APEC Sports Policy Network (ASPN) platform. A recent roundtable meeting took place in Taiwan on February 27th, followed by visits to the Taipei Dome and the Organizing Committee of the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City (WMG2025 OC) on the 28th.

Premier praises APEC 2023 achievements, pledges deeper cooperation

At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, Premier Chen Chien-jen received a briefing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Development Council on Taiwan’s participation in the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings. The premier said that this year’s APEC economic leaders’ and ministerial meetings saw fruitful results and the premier extended his special thanks to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. founder Morris Chang for representing Taiwan at APEC for a seventh year.
