President Tsai Ing-wen held a reception for the Taiwan Technical Mission in Paraguay on the afternoon of August 14 (Tuesday) local time (early morning on August 15 Taipei time). She thanked the mission members for their efforts devoted to Taiwan diplomacy, and encouraged everyone to do their jobs to the best of their ability to optimize the benefits of Taiwan-Paraguay exchanges and cooperation.

On the evening of August 16 local time (morning of August 17 Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen received a decoration from Belize Governor-General Colville Young.

On the afternoon of Thursday, August 16 Belize time (morning of August 17 Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen presided over a certificate award ceremony for Taiwan Scholarship recipients. She encouraged the recipients to study hard, and make the best of all the opportunities that come their way. The president also emphasized that their accomplishments reflect on the accomplishments of Taiwan-Belize relations, and that both governments are rooting for them.

After a flight of seven and a half hours, President Tsai Ing-wen and her delegation arrived at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport in Belize on the afternoon of Thursday, August 16 local time (early morning on August 17 Taipei time).

President Tsai Ing-wen arrived Aug. 14 in Paraguay, South America, on the first leg of a nine-day state visit including fellow ally Belize in Central America.

On the evening of Wednesday, August 15 local time (morning of August 16 Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen hosted a banquet for representatives of the expatriate community in Paraguay, and presented certificates to Taiwan Scholarship recipients. The president thanked the expatriates for their concern and support for Taiwan, and encouraged them to work with the government to bring Taiwan and Latin America closer together so that Taiwan can participate in the development and growth of the Mercos

After attending the inauguration of Paraguay's President Mario Abdo Benítez on the morning of August 15 local time (evening of August 15 Taipei time), President Tsai Ing-wen took part in post-inauguration activities including a prayer ceremony, the delivery of congratulatory messages from the heads of each national delegation to President and First Lady Abdo, and a luncheon hosted by the president and first lady.

President Tsai Ing-wen stopped over Aug. 12 in Los Angeles as part of her nine-day state visit to allies Paraguay and Belize in South and Central America, respectively.
