The NDC holds a seminar on the amended Foreign Professionals Act, to promote widespread awareness of the latest talent recruitment regulations

The NDC held a seminar on the amended Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals (“the Foreign Professionals Act”) on November 8 to an invited gathering of more than 90 representatives of diplomatic missions, chambers of commerce, business associations, and community groups. The seminar, to explain the Act’s Employment Gold Card, permanent residency, tax preference, and other provisions on subjects of close interest to many, was also livestreamed to 180 people from all walks

A Sydney–Taiwan Partnership Showcase and Joint PhD Scholarship Webinar was held on 14 September to showcase the partnerships between the University of Sydney and Taiwan: on one hand Sydney University’s research partnerships with universities in Taiwan, and on the other hand the jointly funded Taiwan–University of Sydney Scholarships, which fund up to five scholarships each year for Taiwanese citizens to undertake a PhD program at the university.

Education Division in New Delhi Initiates Strategic Partnerships in India

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India (TECC) has been working tirelessly despite the pandemic. It has established collaborations with 21 educational institutions all over India. There were over 2,700 Indian students studying in Taiwan in 2019, and Mr. Peters Chen, Director of the Education Division, hopes to encourage more Indian students to come to Taiwan after the pandemic, for further studies and to conduct research.

Documentary “We Sing For The Islands” recognized by international film festivals

To break through the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the well-known director Lekal Sumi Cilangasan (勒嘎.舒米) directed a documentary film “We Sing For The Islands (我們在島嶼歌唱),” presenting the precious achievements of the “HOT Island Music Festival (H.O.T.島嶼音樂季),” the cross-cultural and international exchange activity between Taiwan and Okinawa, and the profound friendship established between musicians, craftsmen and communities.

ITRI Wins Three 2021 R&D 100 Awards

ITRI has won three R&D 100 Awards this year with its Software-defined Augmented Robot Joint (SARJ), 3D Printing Biomimetic Materials and Structures for Tissue Integration (BioMS-Ti), and Ubiquitous Water Wand (UWAW). This marks the 14th consecutive year that ITRI has received the honor of R&D 100 Awards. Other winners this year include world-leading research organizations such as MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
