Peace and human rights, including freedom of religion, are cornerstones of the democratic, multicultural society of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the government will continue to promote these universal values at home and abroad, according to Vice President Chen Chien-jen Nov. 17.

President Tsai Ing-wen said Nov. 20 that the Republic of China (Taiwan) government is committed to safeguarding human rights and will continue to work with local and international partners in strengthening implementation of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.

On the morning of November 14, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by Belize Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington and his wife. President Tsai thanked the government of Belize and Minister Elrington for their firm support of Taiwan's international participation, and expressed hope that Taiwan and Belize would cooperate to make even more contributions to the world.

Strong Taiwan-U.S. relations are based on the shared values of democracy, freedom, human rights, market economy and the rule of law, and the government is committed to further enhancing mutually beneficial exchanges between the two sides, according to Vice President Chen Chien-jen Nov. 7.

President Tsai Ing-wen lauded Nov. 4 the success of her eight-day official trip to three Republic of China (Taiwan) diplomatic allies in the South Pacific, stating that the tour spotlighted Taiwan’s ability to contribute to the international community, especially in the areas of agriculture, education and medical care.

President Tsai Ing-wen said Nov. 2 that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Solomon Islands enjoy a firm, longstanding friendship and she looks forward to the two nations expanding bilateral relations going forward.
