The seventh Taiwan-Philippines Technical Working Group meeting under the Agreement Concerning the Facilitation of Cooperation on Law Enforcement in Fisheries Matters took place July 30 in Taipei City to deepen bilateral cooperation on fishery development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Aug. 7.

Taiwan and Canada jointly announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding on a dark vessel detection system, laying a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated maritime activities. The MOU was signed by Ambassador Tseng Ho-jen, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada, and Mr. Jim Nickel, Executive Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT).

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Australia and Griffith University Asia Institute, held a Global Cooperation Training Framework workshop Aug. 5-6, in Brisbane, the first time that such an event has taken place in Australia, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. reiterated the responsibility of the Philippines regarding regional peace, stability, security, and humanitarian issues. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sincerely appreciates these sentiments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the ROC (Taiwan) and the Prospect Foundation will convene the Ketagalan Forum: 2025 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue at the Grand Hyatt Taipei on August 5. This will be the ninth edition of the forum, and MOFA anticipates that the forum will once again serve as a platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation among relevant stakeholders, while drawing greater international attention to pressing security issues in the Indo-Pacific region.
