On the decision by the Republic of Panama to end diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Office of the President released the following statement: 1. We express our deep regret and disappointment at the Republic of Panama's decision to renounce our long-standing friendship and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.

President Tsai Ing-wen delivered an address on the afternoon of June 13 regarding the decision by the Republic of Panama to end diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Meeting on the morning of June 8 with a delegation led by St. Christopher and Nevis (SKN) Prime Minister Timothy Sylvester Harris, President Tsai Ing-wen extended a warm welcome on behalf of the government and people of Taiwan, and expressed hope that SKN and Taiwan can further bilateral exchanges and continue to maintain a lasting alliance.

Meeting on the morning of June 8 with a group of visitors from the US-based Micron Technology, Inc., President Tsai Ing-wen stressed that the Taiwan government will do everything it can to assist with Micron Technology's plans for expansion in Taiwan. She also expressed hope that Micron Technology will continue to invest in Taiwan to create win-win situations.

Meeting on the morning of June 7 with a group of scholars from the US-based National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), President Tsai Ing-wen expressed hope that Taiwan and the United States will be able to build on an already firm foundation to further their partnership.

On the morning of June 7, Vice President Chen Chien-jen met with "Mosaic Taiwan 2017 fellows." The vice president expressed hope that the visitors would share their adventures and stories in Taiwan after they returned to their home countries. He also called for frequent visits between young people worldwide.

President Tsai Ing-wen said June 5 that this is the ideal time to invest in Taiwan as the economy is on an upward trend while government programs to foster industrial restructuring and economic transformation are starting to bear fruit.

On the morning of June 2, Vice President Chen Chien-jen delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Fulbright Thought Leaders Forum, "Leadership Challenge: Equity, Ethics, and Globalization," organized by Fulbright Taiwan.

President Tsai stated her belief that there are many opportunities for cooperation between Taiwan and the US, and said she hopes that Chairman Gardner will continue to support Taiwan. She also asked the chairman to convey her best regards to President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Meeting on the afternoon of May 27 with members of the team dispatched by Taiwan to be in Geneva during the recent World Health Assembly (WHA), President Tsai Ing-wen praised the group—the WHA action team—for successfully enabling the world to understand the fact that Taiwan is capable of making substantive contributions to worldwide health and safety, and is an indispensable part of the global disease prevention network.
