Debut Taiwan-U.S. forum to help solidify ties with Pacific allies

Taipei, Oct. 5 (CNA) A first-ever Pacific Islands Dialogue co-organized by Taiwan and the United States will be held in Taipei on Monday to explore opportunities for the two countries to work closer together in the region to solidify Taiwan's ties with its Pacific allies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced Saturday.

Taiwan and United States set to hold inaugural Pacific Islands Dialogue in Taipei

Taiwan and the United States will hold the inaugural Pacific Islands Dialogue on October 7 in Taipei. Sandra Oudkirk, US Senior Official for APEC and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands in the State Department’s Bureau of East Asian & Pacific Affairs, is set to take part in the dialogue as head of the US delegation.

The Executive Yuan’s Department of Gender Equality (DGE) announced on Saturday the results of 2019 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Women and the Economy Forum’s (WEF) High-Level Policy Dialogue. Minister without Portfolio Lo Ping-cheng attended the meeting to share Taiwan’s experience and accomplishments with mainstreaming gender issues and promoting women’s economic participation.

Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has actively promoted the New Southbound Policy for three years. TFDA had invited the officers and experts, such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, India, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand, and hosted seven international conferences, five government meetings and one working group meeting of international organization in 2019.
