Port of Keelung Qualifies for Continued EcoPort Certification

Supported by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and the Taiwan International Ports Corporation, the Port of Keelung was certified by the European Sea Port Organization (ESPO) as an EcoPort for the third consecutive time on October 29th. Most of the 114 EcoPorts in 25 countries around the world are in Europe. Taiwan is currently the only country in Asia with EcoPort-certified ports, setting an example for other countries and ports in the region.

The New Southbound Policy plays an important role for Taiwan’s economic and trade strategies. To promote the New Southbound Policy and to enhance the cooperation between Taiwan and the ASEAN countries, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) hosts “2019 Taiwan-ASEAN Drug Regulatory Symposium” from November 13th to 14th, 2019 in Taipei.

'Mom's Way' wins short film competition in Taiwan

A film that portrays a mother's love from the perspective of three different women has won the Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition, the foreign ministry, which organized the contest, announced Wednesday. The Trending Taiwan Short Film Competition was launched by MOFA in 2015 to encourage the production of films that portray different aspects of Taiwan by weaving stories of everyday life.

The Executive Yuan's Department of Cyber Security (DCS) announced on Wednesday that the National Information and Communication Security Taskforce (NICST) has launched the Taiwan-led session of the 2019 Cyber Offensive and Defensive Exercise (CODE), a multinational network security event co-hosted with the American Institute in Taiwan, running from November 4 to November 8.

Council of Agriculture holds “Forum on Export Platform for Taiwan Guavas,” taking first major steps towards exporting guavas to the US

The COA states that in 2018 Taiwan exported 2,840 metric tons of guavas, worth NT$153 million. The five major export markets were Canada (55%), mainland China (22%), Hong Kong (17%), Singapore (5%), and Malaysia (1%).

With numerous important guests in attendance, on October 20 the Council of Agriculture (COA) inaugurated the new “Special Area for Taiwan Agricultural Products” in a supermarket in Singapore. The “Special Area for Taiwan Agricultural Products” is a concrete result of the COA’s active development of sales channels for Taiwan agriproducts in newly rising markets and of its promotion of the “Taiwan Agriproduct Export Platform” policy.
