Meeting on the morning of June 8 with a group of visitors from the US-based Micron Technology, Inc., President Tsai Ing-wen stressed that the Taiwan government will do everything it can to assist with Micron Technology's plans for expansion in Taiwan. She also expressed hope that Micron Technology will continue to invest in Taiwan to create win-win situations.

Meeting on the morning of June 7 with a group of scholars from the US-based National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), President Tsai Ing-wen expressed hope that Taiwan and the United States will be able to build on an already firm foundation to further their partnership.

On the morning of June 7, Vice President Chen Chien-jen met with "Mosaic Taiwan 2017 fellows." The vice president expressed hope that the visitors would share their adventures and stories in Taiwan after they returned to their home countries. He also called for frequent visits between young people worldwide.

On the morning of June 2, Vice President Chen Chien-jen delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Fulbright Thought Leaders Forum, "Leadership Challenge: Equity, Ethics, and Globalization," organized by Fulbright Taiwan.

President Tsai stated her belief that there are many opportunities for cooperation between Taiwan and the US, and said she hopes that Chairman Gardner will continue to support Taiwan. She also asked the chairman to convey her best regards to President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Meeting on the afternoon of May 27 with members of the team dispatched by Taiwan to be in Geneva during the recent World Health Assembly (WHA), President Tsai Ing-wen praised the group—the WHA action team—for successfully enabling the world to understand the fact that Taiwan is capable of making substantive contributions to worldwide health and safety, and is an indispensable part of the global disease prevention network.

The Republic of China is a sovereign state. Taiwan is not a province under the rule of the People's Republic of China, yet the mainland Chinese authorities continue, citing a variety of political pretexts, to exclude the 23 million of Taiwan from the international health system. This, we cannot countenance, nor will we accept. Their illegitimate actions will cost them the support of the international community, and elicit extreme disgust among all the people of Taiwan.

Kaohsiung, May 16 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) on Tuesday expressed hope that Taiwanese expatriates could play the role of a bridge between domestic enterprises and international markets and help promote Taiwan's products, culture and values.

The New Southbound Policy Press Corps III, a group organized by the Department of International Information Services, MOFA, visited Taiwan from May 1 - 6, 2017.
