Representative Francis Liang Kuo-Hsin presented the 2017 Taiwan Scholarship to five Singaporean recipients, and the Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship to another three Singaporean recipients at a ceremony held at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore on 7 July 2017.

Representative Liang congratulated the eight high-achieving Singaporean students and hoped that their scholarship stints in Taiwan would enable them to boost their learning experience, broaden their horizons, and make new lifelong friends.  In his address, Representative Liang highlighted that under the New Southbound Policy, the number of Taiwan Scholarships has increased from three to five so that more Singaporean students will  have the opportunity to study in Taiwan.

This year’s five Taiwan Scholarship recipients will be heading to National Taiwan University, Taipei Medical University and the National Taiwan University of Arts to pursue various Bachelor and Master programs, while the three Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship recipients will be pursuing their language studies at the National Taiwan Normal University and the National Chengchi University.  Present at the awards ceremony were Deputy Representative Steven Tai, Mr. Heman Chen, Commissioner of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Ms. Peng Hsueh-Shu, Secretary-General of the Alumni of Taiwan Universities & Colleges, students and staff of the National Kaohsiung Normal University on a study trip in Singapore, and past scholarship recipients.
