To promote cross culture activities between Taiwan and Southeast Asia this year, the Chinese Cultural Association proposed to have the Art Truck Show Taiwan. The GACC deputy director, Mr. Chang Tieh Chih today in the Malaysia-Taiwan Economic and Cultural held a press conference and publicly announced the promotional video for Art Truck Show Taiwan. The Malaysia-Taiwan Economic and Cultural ambassador, Mr. James Chang Chi Ping, President of Taipei Investor’s Association in Malaysia, Mr. Hsu Cheng Te (DJN, PKT) and the President of Penang Taipei Investors’ Association in Malaysia, Mr. Lee Hui Ta attended the press conference. The Association of Honorary Presidents of Chamber of Commerce, Dato’ Jiang WenZhou , Dato Lee FangXin , President of Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, Malaysia’s alumni association Mr. Chen Zhiguang , Acting President of Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, Mr. Bei Renyi, the President of Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Penang, Mr. Lin Yue Hua and the editor of Penang City Eye, Zhang Lizhu, executive planner of Malaysia’s media partner and organizer of this event, Zhuang Xiuwei also brighten up the press conference with their presence.
The first station of Art Truck Show Taiwan will be on 22nd and 23rd of September 2017 in the capital of Penang, Georgetown. There will many performances filled with Taiwanese specialty that will presented to all in Penang, Malaysia. Taiwan and Malaysia have deep relations given that the cultural origins and the common use of Chinese characters. Moreover, over the years, from culture, music, film and television and many more, Taiwan and Malaysia have many interactions. Besides that, Penang is a place that have many different races, languages, religions and cultures. It is even listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and therefore the various cultural background fit with the content of the Art Truck Show Taiwan.
The Malaysia-Taiwan Economic and Cultural ambassador, Mr. James Chang Chi Ping in his speech quoted the words from Tsai Ing-wen, the President of Taiwan that is let the Taiwanese culture go forth the world, this is the future that we are anticipating. He is also very happy that President Tsai proposed this plan of Art Truck Show Taiwan and the first station of this plan is Malaysia, enhancing the relationship and interaction with Southeast Asia countries. This is also in the direction of what Taiwan is promoting, New South Bound Policy especially that this is the year that this policy is in place. Mr. James hopes that after long time of working together, diversify, both core ideas, the entire government and people’s energy and power through cultural exchange and this will lead to further improving relationship with countries from Southeast Asia.
The GACC deputy director, Mr. Chang Tieh Chih said that there’s two main parts in Art Truck Show Taiwan. Firstly, it is about the Art Truck, the Paper windmill theater has been to around the entire Taiwan, passing through more than 105 villages and accumulating to 133 exciting performances. This time they will be bringing different flavors and local culture to Taiwan to Malaysia and hope that based of good relations throughout the years, using the power of culture that can bring renewed power and relationship to both countries. This time the Art Truck Show will be showcasing Taiwan’s different languages, different styles and also performers from different places. This also involves the renowned Chio-Tian folk drums and arts troupe that will its stunning and solemn drum performances and deity puppetry. Besides that, the 28th Golden Melody Award for Best Taiwanese Male Singer, Hsieh Ming-Yu will be performing exclusively Taiwanese folklsongs as well. “Takao-Run Folk Song & Arts Group” which fuses the young generation’s street art with traditional folk songs, temple acts and parade culture. Lastly, the indie songwriter, Enno Cheng who has a beautiful and heartwarming voice will join the performance as well.
President of Taipei Investor’s Association in Malaysia, Mr. Hsu Cheng Te (DJN, PKT) said that Taiwanese businessman has been staying in Malaysia for almost 30 years, stating that they are the same with Malaysians that they deeply look forward to what Taiwanese culture brings. He too added that culture should not be divided by countries or races. It is because Malaysia are the first station of Art Truck Show outside Taiwan, we hope that through Taiwan Investors’ Association invite everyone to join and hope that Malaysia that contain pluralistic society can understand Taiwan’s culture and enhancing relations between Taiwan and Malaysia. President of Penang Taipei Investor’s Association in Malaysia, Mr. Lee Hui Ta said that Penang Taipei Investors’ Association in 2014 has organized a Taiwanese Carnival adding that at that time, there were many performance and delicious delicacies from Taiwan that attracted thousands of people. Through Art Truck Show in Penang, besides echoing the New South Bound Policy, he also hopes that Taiwan’s culture through this event can bring to Penang a different art festival.
