Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang graced the opening ceremony of the ROC 106th Double Tenth Woodball Invitation Championship on the morning of 17 September 2017.
On behalf of Representative Liang, Deputy Representative and Mrs. Steven Tai attended the subsequent prize award dinner in the evening. Over 50 persons attended the dinner which also saw the attendance of the adviser and commissioner from the Overseas Community Affairs Council, office bearers from the Taipei Business Association in Singapore, the United Chinese Library and the Woodball Association of Singapore, and officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.
In his address, Deputy Representative Tai highlighted the virtues of woodball, which has its origins in Taiwan. The weekly competitions scheduled by the Woodball Association not only allow one to keep fit but also enable participants to connect with and make friends with people from all walks of life. In its sixth year, the Woodball Championship is a labor of love by the Taiwanese community in Singapore. Besides celebrating Taiwan’s birthday, the Woodball Championship also serves as a platform for Taiwanese and Singaporean players to get to know each other better through sports.
