In his address, Representative Liang expressed his delight at joining Singaporean friends at the mid-autumn festival celebration, and thanked the United Chinese Library for putting together the memorable event. Quoting the lines of a Su Dongpo poem, which loosely translates as “May all be blessed with longevity! Although a thousand miles apart, all can share the moon’s beauty together,” Representative Liang called attention to the importance of the mid-autumn festival, a festival widely celebrated by the Chinese all over the world. Besides hosting traditional festivals, the United Chinese Library keeps up with the times through its array of cultural and networking events, and these efforts have helped to strengthen the bilateral friendship and exchanges between Singapore and Taiwan.
