Taiwan badminton ace Chou wins men’s singles title at Thailand Masters

Taiwan’s top male badminton player Chou Tien-chen (周天成) clinched his first title of the season by beating Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew (駱建佑) in the men’s singles final at the Thailand Masters on Sunday.

Taiwan Studies Project MOU Signed with Leading University in Malaysia Extends Bilateral Education Cooperation

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya and the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) was signed at a ceremony held on October 30, 2023. The MOU supports a one-year Taiwan Studies Project at Universiti Malaya that will continue and deepen the bilateral professional training and education related cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia.

NTSO International Youth Orchestra Camp to perform in Thailand in August

The 2024 International Youth Orchestra Camp organized by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is scheduled to take place from Aug. 15 to 20. After the camp participants finish their intensive training, they will perform at four concerts, two of which will be staged in Taiwan on Aug. 21 and 23, and another two in Thailand on Aug. 25 and 26.

To understand the causes of air pollution and the effects from atmospheric circulations on the air quality in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung (Kaoping) area, the Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the Central Weather Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Central University, and other academic institutions will launch the Kao-Ping Experiment (KPEx) in the spring of 2024.

Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei and Belgium’s Elise Mertens won the women’s doubles title at the Australian Open Jan. 28 in Melbourne, making Hsieh the first woman to grab both the doubles and mixed doubles titles in the same tournament since 2000, according to the Ministry of Education.

Port of Keelung welcomed the arrival today (January 16th) of MSC Bellissima, the largest (at over 170k GT) cruise ship operating in the Asia-Pacific Region. For the next three months, MSC Bellissima is scheduled to make 13 homeport cruise journeys between Keelung and Naha (Okinawa).
