Today (27th), the Taipei City Government’s Department for Youth partnered with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Taipei to host the second Asia-Pacific Youth Leadership Summit. Focusing on the theme of sustainable development, the event demonstrated both organizations' forward-looking perspectives on global issues and emphasized the crucial role young people play in driving change.
The 2nd National Languages Development Convention, launched in July, concluded on Oct. 27. It featured a series of forums co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture (MOC), Ministry of Education, Council of Indigenous Peoples, and Hakka Affairs Council, along with a main conference that brought together experts, researchers, officials, and representatives from non-governmental organizations in Taiwan and abroad.
Since the establishment, Taipei City Department for Youth has actively promoted youth participation in international affairs, encouraging young people to embrace their responsibilities as global citizens. As part of this effort, the department is launching the Youth Overseas Volunteer Program and will hold information sessions on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 9.
The Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 opened on Oct. 24, with support from the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Thailand and the Thai art gallery Nova Contemporary. Taiwanese artist Cole Lu’s (呂咅彧) work, “The Engineers,” is featured at this year’s biennale.

The 2024 R&D 100 Awards saw Taiwan achieve its best record in history, winning 15 awards, making it the top winner in Asia and second globally. The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) won eight awards, the Institute for Information Industry (III) received three awards, the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI) earned three awards, and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre took home one award.
The closing ceremony of the International Committee for Architecture and Museum Techniques (ICAMT) 50th Annual Conference took place at the National Palace Museum in Taipei on Oct. 10. During the event, ICAMT Chair Nana Meparishvili presented the “ICAMT 50 TAIWAN Collective Discourses,” summarizing key insights gathered over the four-day conference.
