The Ministry of Environment co-launched the Asia Pacific AERONET Calibration and Training Center (APAC) with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration Nov. 2 in Taipei City, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhance air quality monitoring and substantively contribute to climate change research.

Taiwanese public artist featured in Australian outdoor sculpture exhibition

“Sculpture by the Sea 2023”, the world’s biggest outdoor sculpture exhibition, opened on Oct. 20 at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, showcasing artworks by 105 artists from 21 countries, including three pieces by Taiwanese artist Hu Tung-min (胡棟民).

The 2023 Forum on the Revitalization and Exchange of the Austronesian Languages Commences invited representatives from New Zealand and Canada to discuss Language Revitalization Policies

The Council of Indigenous People (CIP) held the “2023 Forum on the Revitalization and Exchange of the Austronesian Languages” today, September 12th, at the International Conference Hall of the National Central Library. Representatives from New Zealand and Canada were invited to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding their respective indigenous language policies and development.

2023 APEC Youth Impact Forum Spotlights Taiwan’s Innovative Success in Regional Revitalization, and Sustainable Development

To promote cross-regional education cooperation and strengthen post-pandemic economic recovery, the “2023 APEC Youth Impact Forum” initiated by the Ministry of Education (MOE) takes place from 25-27 October. More than 70 young people are invited from 16 APEC member economies as well as the Republic of China (R.O.C., Taiwan) to participate in this important three-day event.

International museum conference held in Taiwan

The ICOM COMCOL 2023 Annual Conference is taking place from Oct. 24 to 27 in Taipei City and Yilan County with 25 international participants including scholars from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. Jointly presented by the ICOM International Committee for Collecting (COMCOL), National Taiwan Museum (NTM), and the Chinese Associations of Museums (CAM), it is the first international gathering focused on museum collections organized in Taiwan.

Annual Exhibition for Students of SPOSAD 2021&2022

To establish an international training and exchange mechanism in art-related fields, and to foster talents in arts and design with international insights, the Ministry of Education has carried out Scholarship Program for Overseas Study in Arts and Design (SPOSAD) since 2005. Those who are selected will be studying abroad for a year under MOE’s sponsorship on tuition fees and living expenses. As of this year, 363 students benefited from the program.

Echoing the New Southbound Policy initiated by the Executive Yuan in 2017, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) started to expand its overseas offices in the Indo-Pacific region such as in Bangkok, Sydney, and New Delhi, integrating with the existing office in Kuala Lumpur to form a larger cultural network.
