On the morning of March 2, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a senior bipartisan delegation sent by US President Joe Biden. In remarks, President Tsai reiterated Taiwan’s determination to defend ourselves and uphold our free and democratic way of life. She said that Taiwan, which stands on the front line of democracy, is not just a key partner, but also a trustworthy partner for those in the region.

On the morning of February 28, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the nation’s main memorial ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the 228 Incident. At the event, President Tsai presented a wreath of flowers in memory of the victims of the incident, and thanked the many survivors, family members, and civil society groups who have worked for years to spur government action, giving us their understanding, support, and advice.

On the morning of February 25, President Tsai Ing-wen attended a ceremony in Tainan to break ground on an expansion to a testing facility for domestically made advanced naval vessels.

President Tsai Ing-wen said Feb. 22 the government is committed to providing more resources and further advancing Taiwan’s R&D environment and capabilities to enhance scientific innovation.

To mark International Mother Language Day on February 21, President Tsai Ing-wen was interviewed on the International Community Radio Taipei (ICRT) We Love Hakka program. During the interview, President Tsai shared her own experience learning Hakka and discussed the importance of preserving mother languages, encouraging everyone to speak their mother languages and promote their use in Taiwan.

President Tsai Ing-wen officially lit up the centerpiece of the Taiwan Lantern Festival Feb. 15 in the southern city of Kaohsiung while taking the opportunity to express appreciation for like-minded partners' support during the pandemic.

On the afternoon of February 15, President Tsai Ing-wen met with Dr. Edwin Feulner, founder and former president of the Heritage Foundation. During the meeting, President Tsai noted that the Heritage Foundation had once again ranked Taiwan sixth in its Index of Economic Freedom, and highlighted Taiwan’s desire to engage more actively in regional economic integration, as part of which we are seeking to join the CPTPP.

President Tsai Ing-wen said Feb. 10 that the government is committed to advancing Taiwan’s information and communication technology sector through expanded public-private cooperation.

After the United States government notified Congress of a US$100 million Patriot missile equipment and services package sale to Taiwan on February 7, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) today (February 8) thanked the US government for once again taking concrete action to fulfil its security commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.
