New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters held bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the New Zealand capital of Wellington on March 18. The New Zealand government issued a statement afterward which mentioned that it had raised concerns with China over increased tensions in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait during the meeting. During the visit, the delegation toured the General Electric Company (GE) maintenance and research center, where they discussed setting up a maintenance center in Taoyuan and explored potential investment cooperation projects. Deputy Mayor Wang stated that Taoyuan has advantages in transportation, with its airport, and in talent, with institutions like National Central University. The city also boasts a significant number of precision manufacturing industries.
