NEXT BIG to Convey Taiwan’s Entrepreneurial Energy to the World

To strengthen Taiwan startups’ international reputation, on top of the national startup brand Startup Island TAIWAN, the National Development Council (NDC) launched the NEXT BIG project. Together, the startup communities and industry key opinion leaders jointly nominated nine startups to become NEXT BIG representatives. With NEXT BIG leading the way, Taiwan hopes to see more young people be inspired and Taiwan’s thriving entrepreneurial energy be conveyed to the world.

CECC announces details about how people can obtain proof of vaccination for traveling abroad

On August 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that as some people need to obtain a proof of vaccination before traveling abroad, it recommends that people understand related regulations in the country to which they plan to travel and acquire their proof of vaccination according to one of the procedures listed below.

Presidential Office thanks US government for announcing arms sale to Taiwan

In response to the United States government’s August 4 (US EST) announcement of the sale of 40 M109A6 Paladin Medium Self-Propelled Howitzer Systems and related equipment to Taiwan, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) today (August 5) thanked the US on behalf of the government of Taiwan for fulfilling its commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.

CECC confirms 11 more COVID-19 cases, including 6 domestic cases and 5 imported cases

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are four men and one woman, aged between 20 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Nigeria (Case #15854), South Africa (Case #15855) and the United States (Cases #15858, #15859 and #15860), and arrived between July 21 and August 3.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) is continuing to cooperate with Swiss-based international non-governmental organization, Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), to implement the Digital Health Innovation for COVID-19 Response in India (Phase 2) project, which officially started on July 16, 2021.

Regarding the new imported case, Case #15850 is a Japanese female in her teens. She traveled to Taiwan from Japan for studies on August 2. She was tested for COVID-19 at the airport, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 4.
