In response to spread of COVID-19 Delta variant, PCR testing is required for people completing home quarantine and home isolation periods to protect health of community

On June 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center announced that to prevent the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, starting June 22, close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases and travelers entering Taiwan from abroad, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, will be required to undergo PCR testing one day prior to the end of home isolation or home quarantine period.

Regarding the new imported cases, Case #14257 is a Taiwanese male in his 50s. He returned to Taiwan from Indonesia on June 20. He experienced a sore throat on June 21, and the health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 22.

The draft Amendments to the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals drawn up by National Development Council (NDC) was approved by the Legislative Yuan today. Minister Kung, Ming-Hsin appreciated the support from legislators of each political party to make the draft Amendments pass the examination in the Legislative Yuan. The Amendments aim to build a more complete legal framework for recruiting talents, so more international talents can “get in” and “stay”.

On June 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 75 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All 75 cases are indigenous. The CECC also announced 20 deaths today.
