Government to remain vigilant amid improving COVID situation

Premier Su Tseng-chang said on Thursday that although the past few days have seen a reduction and stabilization in the number of new COVID-19 cases, there remains the potential for rapid changes in the situation. He called on his executive team to stand ready to adapt and improve the epidemic response to cope with changes arising from mutant strains of the virus, and to refine and review moving forward.

The Carbis Bay communique issued Sunday by leaders of the Group of Seven industrialized nations stressing the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and the peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues is sincerely appreciated by the government and people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said June 14.

CECC confirms 167 indigenous COVID-19 cases and 3 imported cases

Regarding the three new imported cases, Case #13371 and Case #13372 are two male Filipino sailors in their 20s. They traveled to Taiwan from the Philippines on May 13 and May 5, respectively. After completing their quarantine period, they tested negative. They took a self-paid test on June 14 as they planned to leave Taiwan. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on June 16.

Regarding the three new imported cases, Case #13305 is an over 20-year-old male from Indonesia. Case #13332 and Case #13333 are a Taiwanese female in her 50s and a Taiwanese man under 10, respectively. They both returned to Taiwan from Peru on June 6.
