The #FindingTaiwan International Short Film Contest got underway April 9 to help raise the country’s profile on the global stage, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The National Immigration Agency’s (NIA) Border Affairs Corps has earned global recognition in the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards, securing 4th place in the World’s Best Airport Immigration Service category. This prestigious accolade places Taiwan just behind Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, and Bahrain International Airport. Skytrax, a UK-based independent non-profit organization, has conducted annual global airport evaluations since 1999.
Surrounded by mountains, Checheng is located in Nantou, Taiwan’s only landlocked county. As the terminus of Taiwan Railway’s Jiji Branch Line, the town is also known as “the end of the line,” but it isn’t in fact all that remote. When the sugar, logging and power-generation industries flourished in surrounding areas, it became something of a transportation hub.
